Portrait of Claude Debussy Claude Debussy

The name "Syrinx" has special significance for us. First, it's a piece of music by our favourite composer, Claude Debussy. That music reminds us very much of a bird's song, bringing us to the second significant meaning: a syrinx is a bird's equivalent to our larynx. Birds are very important to Susan and I. We have five small parrots (not wild-caught), and we feed and water a large number of wild birds in our back yard.

The syrinx.net domain has been around for a number of years, primarily as our email addresses. As Susan and I have become more involved with environmental issues, we thought it only right that we increase the visibility of Syrinx to get our messages out.
