I saw The Veil yesterday in Halifax. It was an unforgettable experience. The play is an original English production based on Masoud Behnoud’s epic Persian novel Khanoom involving “four generations of women as they struggle to find their identities, independence and a place for themselves in a rapidly changing world”. The use of a set of white curtains with scene projections which are rearranged at intervals to convey different contexts is mesmerizing, as are the story and the acting. It will be in Toronto at the Harbourfront Centre Studio November 28 – December 9, 2007.
