will my naturopath see me coming out of the coffee shop?submitted by davidp on tue, 2009-05-19 09:18.
I retired just under a year ago which finally gave me the opportunity to deal with the diet and lifestyle issue, or, more truthfully, took away the excuses for not doing so. Some bad blood tests helped on the stimulation side, as did some evil side effects from a statin drug. Overall it is going surprisingly well (I credit the GI diet and a good naturapath to advise on supplements and prohibitions) except for one thing: the naturopath said I must stop drinking coffee. I have had to avoid coffee for short periods a couple of times and the result was pounding headaches. I almost ran to the nearest coffee shop when I was allowed to do so. This time around, I’ve delayed even the attempt, then tried various substitutes even buying one of those horribly flavoured coffees so that I might associate coffee with foul taste. Nothing works. It’s practically worse than quitting smoking which took me 15 years to finally quit unequivocally. (Now I just about throw up from a second hand whiff.) Worst of all I am afraid my naturopath will see me coming out of the coffee shop. Is there a CAA (coffee addict anonymous) society somewhere? |
