It was 35 years ago today,

a turbulent world looked to the heavens for a unique view of our home planet. This photo of "Earthrise" over the lunar horizon was taken by the Apollo 8 crew in December 1968, showing Earth for the first time as it appears from deep space.

I used to have this as a full wall wallpaper poster for my office in the basement of the Food Stamp Program Office in the early 1980s. As Bette Midler sang, God is looking down on us, from a distance...and who did I think I was? Hmmm....as Paul Simon sang, still crazy after all these years...and as the Buddha said to the drive-in window at Burger King: Make me one with everything.
