wash your hands

Went to a gas station. Used the restroom. Washed my hands. Dried my hands. Meanwhile, employee from co-situated fast food franchise entered, used urinal, left as I was leaving, and re-entered fast food franchise employees only door. Did not wash his hands.
Needless to say, we did not purchase any food at that fast food franchise.
The sign and the sink need to be INSIDE the food franchise, and employees need to wash their hands whenever they come into the work area from outside the work area. Period.

I learned in my final years of a university prof. that I could actually avoid getting the flu every year by (a) wearing a long-sleeve shirt/pullover and using that to open doors, (b) washing hands and drying and turning off taps with paper towel, (c) never rubbing my eyes or (d) picking my nose, (e) using stairs rather than a crowded elevator, (f) eating home-prepared food. I didn't like thinking about interaction with students on a microbiological level, but it worked.

Remarkable, I wonder who came up with it. A friend of mine years ago asked "Did you ever notice how people pick their noses when they are driving alone? I never forgot it and have frequently observed it. I think he was referring to men - I have never observed a female doing it.
