The first book that I remember picking out for purchase as a child was Walt Kelly's I Go Pogo. Not sure what it was that appealed to me the most - the characters like Cherchez La Femme (Churchie) the turtle and Albert the Alligator or the witty words. Many years later Pogo's quote and Walt Kelly became associated with environmental issues.
