Another article discusses a study of fifty male-to-female sex-change patients which tries to explain the gender difference in migraine sufferers. These people were taking anti-androgen hormones to suppress male sex characteristics and estrogens to induce female sex characteristics. The study found that migraine occurrence increased in this group to the Dutch national average for women.
