visual side effects

Woke up to a nasty headache this morning and stayed in bed til noon. Somewhere along the way my wife brought me my laptop to send notice why I wasn't at work, and I noticed that 1. I couldn't focus, seeing double on the text with our without my reading glasses 2. The screen seemed to glow more than usual 3. Even in a dimmed room, the light hurt my eyes.

Don't know if it was what you call a migraine, but I would not wish to have another one anytime soon. Lasted maybe 6 to 4 hours and subsided with regular pain medicine.

I would never ignore a migraine that causes visual problems. They can be isolated and happen only once. But no matter what the type of head pain, when vision is affected - you should get it checked.

The ones that get you in your sleep are among the worst. It does sound like a migraine. If it happened on one side of the head (that can also be the back of the head at the base of the skull) you should do a follow-up. You don't want that to happen again.

I have developed a permanent fear of sleep because of the wake up migraines. Didn't realize it until I had them controlled, but I forever have a hard time going to sleep. It is the one psychological issue I've developed as a result of years of the wake-up migraines. It is a fear of being attacked again - because you don't see the warnings when you are sleeping.
