Recently the term "Al Queda Candidate" has surfaced in the news media in regard to the Connecticut Democratic Party primary election. The origin of the term, a derivation of "The Manchurian Candidate", comes from September 15, 2004, and a column by Karen Kwiatkowski.

I thought the source might have been Ted Rall but I was unable to locate the column or cartoon on his web site.

20 August - Dr. Kwiatkowski found a couple of earlier personal blog entries that had used the term in the 2004 election to assert that Al Qaeda would be happier to see John Kerry elected. Her column still remains the first use on an internet media site, and still remains the only one that supported the title with a long list of objective facts to support the appelation.
