Out taking pictures of Turk's Caps and a Large Orange Sulphur butterfly and a Gulf Fritillary butterfly when this Anna's or Black-Chinned hummingbird took a moment from its nectar gathering among the Turk's Caps and checked out the large animal in its territory. So I definitely know that Turk's Caps are a hummingbird attractant, in addition to the Flame Acanthus. Only had a 35x80 lens for flower closeups, but took some 10-20 foot shots of the bird anyway. This was one of the closer shots, cropped to isolate the bird. unstaged. live action. point and shoot. in the moment. |
