The hunt for red admiral

2008-03-11 Originally thought this was a red rim butterfly, finally captured this after sighting it while planting butterfly attractors and hosts in the butterfly waystation area of the back yard. Grabbed the camera from inside the house, couldn't find it, went around to the front, and found two of these feasting on the mountain laurel, along with lots of honey bees and other insect friends. apparently Canada is another continent - Far Far North America, maybe... kinda like the weather -- it seems to stop at the borders, although where those cold fronts come from is anybody's guess...
