In addition to the standard flea treatments, this simple addition to the dog's diet was recommended: add a little fresh sage. It seems fleas hate sage. And it can't hurt for your dog to have fresher breath!

And for fresh-smelling dogs that are flea resistant:

Boil a quart of water; remove from heat and add 2 cups fresh rosemary and/or mint and let it steep for about 30 minutes. After straining the herbs, dilute with 4 quarts of warm water. Pour it over your dog, working it into their coat and skin.
