Had a little trouble identifying this one - wouldn't open its wings, apparently was settling in for the night or something while I waited and waited and waited, camera at the ready.... looked in the butterfly handbook which had lots of pretty wingspreads and absolutely no folded wing pictures (stupid humans)... then found a match in the map-species match in the butterflies and moths web site...and tags: butterflies gulf fritillary passion flowersubmitted by robertkamper on wed, 2008-07-16 21:51.

mature subject matter but no inappropriate graphic content; pictures after the "read more" link. Well, there is a picture of an egg... Almost all of these pictures were taken on the same day, certainly within the same week. The Gulf Fritillary loves the Passion Flower vine - which hasn't quite started blooming here, but the caterpillars don't care... tags: butterflies life texas cycle gulf fritillary gulf fritillary closed wingssubmitted by robertkamper on tue, 2008-07-08 20:21.
this butterfly got my out of my chair and into the front yard to take pictures the other day. today a hummingbird came by the yellow bells bush in front of my window and took a few sips. will have to take some pictures of those flowers. maybe even put up a hummingbird feeder and the tripod and see if i can get some reasonably still shots of the hummers. whoopee. will have to put on the heart monitor to make sure it stays within safe parameters. tags: butterflies gulf fritillary |
