blogsanother good idea that won't be taken seriously...submitted by robertkamper on sat, 2007-01-06 18:06.
Ted Rall's blog has a great suggestion from one of his readers. m is for my grainesubmitted by susanjillian on mon, 2006-07-17 16:55.
I've been trying to avoid writing articles that take on the "I was ill today, so I did this or that" as I've seen in other blogs that focus on health matters. A couple of migraine blogs have references such as, "The migraine fairy visited me today". I cringe whenever I see these because I know it leads to the type of "poor me" dialogs that I feel do not help either the person with the condition or those trying to understand it better. I was going to write about those types of blog entries but I realized I don't have the right to take that position. What I think is happening when folks write that they were ill that day - and how it depressed them - is they are finding a release because they feel hopeless. That is where I differ. I don't feel hopeless. But that does not make me better than they are as people. Nor does it suggest I am stronger. I think it is the result of having people who love you and stand by you no matter what. If you don't have that, you will become desperate. So I have been making an effort to understand that manner of expression and seeing it in a new light. migraine blogs that i read...submitted by susanjillian on thu, 2006-06-08 10:16.
There are other migraine blogs out there that I drop into and read. I am a bit picky and tend to avoid the ones that are caught up in the belief that a stressful day leads to the pain. We know better. Also I am not likely to read the blogs that just list pain episodes and focus on the daily experience. They are valid and have a right to exist.. but there are some of us out there that want to change the way we are seen and treated - we work despite our conditions - we push ourselves and exceed our boundaries when possible |
