right back at ya

spent some time with my daughter and son-in-law today and took some pictures of the butterflies in their backyard. Also got a couple of shots of this golden dragonfly... assuming it wasn't vacationing from Nova Scotia.

Here there be dragonflies

I was butterfly hunting in the greenbelt the other day, picking up stray golf balls and ant bait traps and taking pictures of lace cacti and other flowers etc. when I was surprised to see a dragonfly this early in the year. I guess they eat anything, not just mosquitoes. Also surprised that it perched on a branch long enough for me to get at least one shot more or less in focus.

Dragonfly detail

The relatively low resolution (and heavy JPEG compression) of the images posted here doesn't allow one to see the details actually captured by the camera. It's unfortunate, but disk space must be conserved. So here's a detail of the previous dragonfly image.
