Looks like the greenbelt herd is up to an even dozen - 6 fawns, 4 does, and 2 bucks wandered by this afternoon and are somewhere in this snapshot. They do get a little crowded toward the back with the overlapping. A little composition in camera and creative cropping keeps the apartment complex out of view to the right and the fence out of view in the foreground, leaving us with several more or less horizontal wedges of blue, green, and brown with grasses providing some vertical lines for contrast at the bottom...or that's my aesthetic interpretation.

not so long ago I counted 6 fawns, 2 bucks, and 4 does packing down the deer corn. Today just 3 does and 2 fawns when I set out the nibbles. Later on a couple of fawns showed up - whether the same two looking for seconds or two others, I don't know - so I tossed another bowl out for them.

Took this pic of one of the bucks over the backyard fence the other day. Actually saw at least 4 fawns at one time in the herd a couple weeks ago. Since then have only seen 2 or 3 at a time. Today saw a dead fawn on the side of the main road. I'm sure it probably jumped out of nowhere and the driver couldn't avoid it and didn't even see it. Today when I came home a doe and a fawn were out back waiting for some corn - by the time I got done there were 2 fawns, 2 bucks, and 3 does.

I was out in the backyard taking shots of the deer herd. Apparently only one fawn out of three does survived this spring, so it should be healthy with the attention and milk it is getting by default. Then my therapist called back to set up an appointment. We shall overcome.
