thank you scientific american, even if you are 30 years late

The August edition of Scientific American has a detailed article on migraine.

The article shows that those of use who have claimed that this disease is profound, and beyond our abilities - were telling the truth. A truth we could not prove, that was based on a "feeling".

Everyone who trivialized our experience should be ashamed of themselves including my friend Oliver Saks who should apologize for that pathetic migraine book he wrote way back which set in motion a standard of treatment that was horrible.

Everyone who has migraine or knows someone who has it, please get a copy of this issue of Scientific American.

migraine sufferers misunderstood: survey

submitted by susanjillian on tue, 2007-01-02 19:14.

As I read this article:"Migraine sufferers misunderstood: survey", I found myself thinking that the medical community is still largely responsible for this feeling of being misunderstood. Not the employers. Don't get me wrong, I am glad this article exists, but they are only doing a survey now? 20 years ago there was a pattern emerging with suicide and migraine. MS and migraine was a topic 15 years ago that needed further exploration - and is still largely untapped. People suffer in silence not because they can, but because they have to. And only for so long. This is a disability in some people - not everyone, not the people who have an attack once every couple of years. But the unfortunate few that have them several times a month. Exhausted from working through pain, poor from the expense of medication, it's no surprise they feel the way they do. This survey is not as extensive as it could be either. But I'll take what I can get.

a new article on environmental strategies

submitted by daniel on thu, 2006-06-29 22:31.

I've just posted a new entry to the articles section called "Ten things we have done to help the environment". It's primarily a list of the steps Susan and I have taken to reduce our impact on the environment. Take a look and see if there's something in there you hadn't thought to do or perhaps didn't even know about. Feel free to let me know what you think of the article. I would appreciate any comments.
