forestmonarch on milkweedsubmitted by daniel on sun, 2006-07-02 21:18.
Not only do Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on Milkweed plants, they also enjoy the nectar in the flowers. I was lucky to get this photo, as Monarchs are very wary of anything that moves. milkweed flowerssubmitted by daniel on sun, 2006-07-02 21:07.
The meadow in our section of Jefferson Forest is filled with Milkweed plants. As a result, there is a large population of Monarch butterflies in attendance. This is what gets destroyed without a thought by housing development. caterpillarsubmitted by daniel on sun, 2006-06-25 17:53.

dragonfly detailsubmitted by daniel on mon, 2006-06-12 11:00.
The relatively low resolution (and heavy JPEG compression) of the images posted here doesn't allow one to see the details actually captured by the camera. It's unfortunate, but disk space must be conserved. So here's a detail of the previous dragonfly image. |
